Background and Discussion:

This project is located within the El Rio Service Center at 7901 El Rio Street. The proposed development provides conditioned workspace for the Precinct staff and environmentally sensitive equipment. Currently, the Precinct staff work between conditioned and unconditioned spaces, requiring these work processes to be moved due to space constraints.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to condition portions of the unconditioned warehouse to allow staff to efficiently perform all processes without moving the items due to space constraints. This will allow the employees to perform the required activities more effectively without having to worry about moving between conditioned and unconditioned spaces. The current equipment within the conditioned space limits how much the Precinct can accomplish in a given timeframe. The Precinct plans to procure additional equipment to increase their capacity.

Alternative Options:

The primary alternative option is to continue using the existing facilities, which will limit the Precinct’s capacity to perform their tasks. The secondary option would be to construct a new facility and move the operations to the new facility.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
