Background and Discussion:

The NACo Annual Conference brings together elected and appointed officials from the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes and boroughs. NACo members also have the opportunity to influence the association’s direction and future during the Annual Business Meeting, which occurs on the last day of the NACo Conference, by voting on NACo policy positions, considering proposed bylaws changes and electing NACo leadership for 2024-2025. NACo members are encouraged to authorize only one voting delegate per county. The voting delegate must be designated by 5 p.m. EDT on Monday, July 8. Once a designation occurs, the delegate will receive voting credentials that attest to a member’s ability to vote in the NACo Annual Business Meeting to be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, which is also a Commissioners Court meeting day.

Expected Impact:

Voting delegates and proxies decide all business, motions, and the election of officers during the Annual NACo Business Meeting, thus ensuring Harris County’s interests are represented and voting privileges are preserved.
