Background and Discussion:
The project involves constructing new roadways-Marron Park Way and Maplewood Trailhead Lane-and new parking areas beneath the Lockwood Overpass, along with a traffic signal at the intersection of Marron Park Way and Lockwood Drive. It also includes the construction of a retaining wall, stormwater drainage system, and extensions of water and sanitary lines connecting to existing utilities along Lockwood Drive. Additional improvements consist of sidewalks, trails, and the installation of decorative streetlight, pedestrian pathway, and parking lot lighting.
This Change Order addresses time extensions only, with a total cost of $46,292.78. This cost will be covered entirely by reallocating funds from Bid Item 215, and no additional funds will be added to the contract. New bid items will be established to account for the work, and calendar days will be added to the contract schedule as outlined below:
PCO#5 - Lockwood Intersection Storm Manhole
Partial repair of a structurally deficient storm manhole is required, including coordination with the utility owner. This work results in an estimated 5-day schedule impact.
PCO#6 - Marron Parkway Retaining Wall -Field Conditions
Soil conditions were found unsuitable for the originally designed retaining wall, requiring design revisions, footing and wall adjustments, and additional reinforcing steel. These changes result in a 26-calendar-day schedule impact.
PCO#7 - Marron Parkway RW Foundation - Field Conditions
High groundwater and poor soil required multiple testing, additional excavation, groundwater control, and select fill replacement for the retaining wall foundation. These field adjustments result in a 37-calendar-day schedule impact.
Expected Impact:
This action allows for the completion of the project as designed and per the contract documents and the Contractor to be compensated for the actual work performed.
Alternative Options:
Continue with the original plan.
