Background and Discussion:
The Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBG) promotes flexibility in State and local transportation decisions and provides funding to address State and local transportation needs. Harris County Office of the County Engineer (OCE) is submitting a request seeking a resolution to authorize the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program funds allocation by Houston Galveston Area Council for utilization of pavement repair and new roadway signage identified as the Louetta Road from Champion Forest Drive to West of IH 45 - project, a critical corridor for residents and businesses alike. The preservation of critical infrastructure is vital to improve the condition, reliability, and resilience of County transportation. Connecting our communities to safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well- maintained infrastructure is paramount.
Expected Impact:
Planning and construction of projects that facilitate intermodal connections between emerging transportation technologies as a provision of safe, connected, and improved infrastructure. The scope of work for this project consists of the design and construction of approximately mill and overlay with base repair for three roads and reconstruction of approximately 36,010 LF of roads within Harris County Precinct 3.
Alternative Options:
If the project does not receive federal funds, the proposed project may have to be constructed with local funds.
