Background and Discussion:

The Powell Foundation is a local charitable foundation investing heavily in Early Childhood Development & Education. The Harris County FUEL program is an initiative of the ARPA Jobs & Education portfolio, investing in reaching parents of young children with high-quality evidence-based parent education to support optimal early childhood development. This grant application will seek funding to enhance the FUEL program with consultancy to improve FUEL providers’ recruitment and retention of high-need families through user-center design approaches.

Expected Impact:

This partnership with the Powell Foundation will strengthen the FUEL program and build our knowledge in how best to scale early childhood parent education programs.

Alternative Options:

Forgo applying and launch FUEL without the user-centered design activities.
