Background and Discussion:

Precinct 4 is partnering with Brighter Bites to provide fresh produce and nutrition education to children and families with limited financial resources during the summer months when school meals are unavailable. Brighter Bites supplies fruits, vegetables, and educational materials, while Precinct 4 provides facilities, logistics, and volunteer support at the Burnett Bayland and Tracy Gee community centers. Events are jointly scheduled and promoted to ensure accessibility and strong community engagement.

Expected Impact:

The program is expected to reduce food insecurity by giving families consistent access to produce throughout the summer. Nutrition education materials also support healthier long-term habits for children and caregivers. Hosting events at Burnett Bayland and Tracy Gee strengthens community outreach and increases resident awareness of available wellness resources.
