Background and Discussion:
This change in contract is needed to complete the construction contract for this project. The purpose is to
increase the quantities for the 6-inch and 8-inch concrete channel lining items to replace additional sections as
required, and to extend the 48-inch reinforced concrete pipe to the manhole. Additionally, the weep holes from Station 34+40 to Station 44+00 within the low-flow channel require cleaning to restore proper function and improve efficiency.
Expected Impact:
This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.
Alternative Options:
This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract, which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
