Background and Discussion:

The grant project focuses on prevention and surveillance strategies, whereby surveillance data related to mortality, clinical, and related data will be linked to support prevention activities centered around care, education, harm reduction and coalition-building.

Expected Impact:

The renewal of this grant will allow for the continuation of surveillance and prevention activities related to substance use both in Harris County and the Houston Health Department jurisdiction through a subaward. Funds from this grant also support efforts in the substance use program at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office through its existing partnership with Harris County Public Health. Additionally, it would fully fund the four staff members who currently work full-time on this project and the six additional staff required by the grant.
