Background and Discussion:

Office of the County Engineer (OCE) regularly engages the services of engineering firms for various traffic engineering tasks. These tasks include the design of traffic signals, speed analyses, evaluation of roadways for traffic issues, corridor studies, traffic safety analyses, intersection improvement evaluation, and engineering design, to name but a few. Job No.: 23/0447, Countywide, MWDBE Contracted Goal: 30 %; MWDBE Current Participation N/A.

Expected Impact:

These services will support Traffic Design in ensuring the continued design of new and rebuilt traffic signals, to conduct traffic studies, and produce engineering reports and designs.

Alternative Options:

An alternative would be to hire additional staff to support this effort and meet the department objectives within a reasonable schedule. However, this option may prove to be cost-ineffective and entail uncertainties in training new staff to address urgent demands.

Alignment with Goal(s):

_ Justice and Safety
