Background and Discussion:

Kingslake Forest Subdivision located in Northeast Harris County, Texas, Precinct 1. Under existing conditions,

the Kingslake Forest Subdivision has experienced flood damage during extreme rainfall events. The project will

include storm sewer improvements along multiple streets in the neighborhood. The proposed drainage

improvements will consist of removal and replacement of existing storm sewers, as well as replacement of the

inlets. A detention basin will also be added to the southeastern portion of the neighborhood, to mitigate for

the impacts to Greens Bayou tributary P127-00-00 from the aforementioned improvements. This detention

basin will be dry bottom basin, with a perimeter concrete trail. The basin may include recreational features such as mature trees, signage, trash receptables, and benches.

The Change in contract request includes new items for the following:

•                     PCO - 6 Utility Conflicts - Added 53 days for an extension of the critical path due to a conflict with an existing sanitary sewer line requiring the redesign of a 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe alignment, and a conflict with a Comcast pedestal.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the Kingslake Forest Subdivision.

Alternative Options:

The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the contractor will not be able to complete the original scope of work.
