Background and Discussion:

Precinct 4 seeks approval to enter into an agreement with The Women’s Resource of Greater Houston to provide financial education programming at designated Precinct 4 community centers. The Women’s Resource delivers training and coaching designed to help women and girls build financial knowledge, confidence, and long-term economic stability by meeting participants directly in community settings. These programs support improved financial health, debt and expense management, savings and investment practices, and resilience during economic challenges.

Financial literacy offered through this partnership has demonstrated benefits, including enhanced protection against financial fraud, improved negotiating skills, and the ability to achieve long-term financial goals. It can also support survivors of abusive situations by fostering economic independence. This initiative helps to expand economic opportunity, address knowledge gaps, and reduce financial stress for residents through accessible, community-based education.

Expected Impact:

The program is expected to strengthen financial security, independence, and overall well-being for residents across Precinct 4. Participants will gain practical skills to manage debt, increase savings, and invest for long-term stability, supporting improved income potential and quality of life. The initiative also contributes to reducing gender gaps in wealth and retirement readiness by expanding access to essential financial education.
