Background and Discussion:

This project extends Mound Road 0.86 miles east of Greenhouse Road to Cypress Drive. The project starts with a 41 foot wide concrete pavement section that connects to a separate project (Segment 1). The pavement section will then transition to a 24 foot wide asphalt pavement section. Pavement will end in a cul-de-sac. The existing railroad crossing at Cypress Drive will be closed at the completion of the project. The project is approximately 2,000 feet in length. Drainage will be a combination of swales and subsurface drainage. A detention pond will be constructed that outfalls into Cypress Creek. An outfall will be constructed at Cypress Creek.

Expected Impact:

To provide better accessibility for landowners and development plan for the area.

Alternative Options:

It’s required to meet current Harris County Design Standards. The other alternative is substandard project construction.
