Background and Discussion:

The District Attorney’s Office is working with Mr. Durfee on a review of the DAO’s governing policy manuals.  Mr. Durfee will determine and recommend next steps for producing an operations manual that will be a clear and definitive expression of the District Attorney’s policies upon which DAO staff can rely on and be held accountable to.

Expected Impact:

Office-wide policies are applicable to every organization.  They ensure consistency by offering clear instructions on how tasks should be performed, how decisions are made, and how employees should conduct themselves in the workplace.  This effort is a beginning step in the process, which will ultimately promote uniformity across the organization and minimize risks and legal issues.

Alternative Options:

The work could be done without a consultant, but it would take much longer to produce.  Mr. Durfee has many years of experience and will provide insight that would be unavailable if he was not a part of this work.
