Background and Discussion:

Request by the Office of the Purchasing Agent for approval of an award on the basis of highest overall evaluation and that the County Judge execute an agreement with Mc2 Civil, LLC. in the amount of $23,464,700.0 for construction of Poor Farm Ditch Conveyance Improvements form Bellaire Boulevard To University Boulevard project (D111-00-00-C002) for the Flood Control District (250420), MWDBE Contracted Goal: 25.07%

The primary goal of the project is to avoid a failure of the existing channel by constructing an entirely new channel structure. The existing concrete channel is over 55 years old and has deteriorated at an accelerated pace, buckled at many locations and is well beyond its useful life.

Expected Impact:

The construction of the Poor Farm Ditch channel improvements will enhance the community’s flood resilience and restore the concrete channel to proper structural design integrity.

Alternative Options:

The alternative would be to not use Mc2 Civil, LLC as the construction contractor and select another, or terminate the project, which is not recommended seeing it is grant funded.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
