Request for approval of a study report prepared by Agha Engineering LLC for Sweetwater Lane from West Mount Houston to West Canino Road, Precinct 2, UPIN 23102MF2US01.
end
Background and Discussion:
The project is in north Harris County in the Aldine area, Precinct 2. Agha Engineering LLC was awarded a contract to provide roadway reconstruction and related improvements along Sweetwater Lane from West Mount Houston to West Canino Road. Based on that agreement, Agha Engineering has submitted the final study report on June 05, 2025.
Expected Impact:
The project will reconstruct the existing asphalt pavement and provide a 27-feet wide typical concrete pavement section from face of curb to face of curb, centered in the existing right-of-way with 6-feetwide sidewalks and ADA ramps on either side, including widening the bridge over Halls Bayou to accommodate the proposed sidewalks. The design proposes to replace the existing open ditches with an underground storm sewer system with inlets and lower the existing pavement profile to capture storm water from outside of the right-of-way.
The design considered roadway geometry requirements and constraints, detention and mitigation recommendations, environmental constraints, traffic control construction phasing recommendations, and recommendations for additional right-of-way (ROW) acquisitions and easements including temporary construction easements (TCE), Unobstructed Visibility Easements (UVE) and the location of tall curb along the back of proposed sidewalks to minimize the need for additional ROW
Alternative Options:
The County could elect to approve or choose to reject the study recommendations. However, if not approved, the design plans cannot be completed as recommended in the study.
