Background and Discussion:

On September 28, 2021, the Court approved a temporary transfer of funds to extend the positions temporarily. This contract renewal is to provide services and activities necessary to assist youth who are transitioning out of foster care in achieving their goals. This agreement was approved in 2020 and has been renewed annually. It has allowed us to fulfil a Department of Family Protective Services requirement of referring current and former foster youth to local Texas Workforce Centers that provide career-vocational related services, such as career exploration, job readiness skills, job seeking skills and training opportunities.

Expected Impact:

This agreement will allow us to continue ensuring current and former foster youth have access to an array of services and referrals to services, that will assist transitioning foster youth to address barriers they face, including workforce services, dropout prevention activities, self-esteem and leadership activities, counseling, and other services that will support the healthy development of transitioning foster youth, with the final goal of obtaining employment. This is a cost reimbursement grant.
