Request Summary (Agenda Caption):

title

Transmittal by the Office of Management and Budget of a change to the monthly premium for non-owned auto insurance for the policy term beginning May 8, 2026.

end

Background and Discussion:

Non-owned auto insurance is an optional program that provides liability coverage for enrolled Harris County employees when in the operation of a Harris County controlled vehicle and are involved in an at-fault auto accident while not in the course and scope of employment. Approximately 1,200 Harris County employees are currently enrolled in the program. The policy will renew with a monthly premium increase from $95.84 to $104.90. The new premium will be reflected on the May 8, 2026 paycheck.

Expected Impact:

There is no direct fiscal impact to Harris County, as the County only facilitates employees' purchase of non-owned auto coverage via payroll deduction.

Alternative Options:

This is a program provided to employees who drive county-owned vehicles outside the course and scope of

employment. If Harris County did not provide this program, employees would have to obtain their own coverage.
