title

Request for approval to execute a Service Outlet Location Statement for installation of an electric meter with CenterPoint Energy, LLC and authorize the County Auditor to pay monthly bills for 24810 ½ Birnam Wood Blvd, Spring, TX 77373 for electrical power serving a traffic signal, Birnam Wood Blvd Segment 2 - from south of J109-01-01 to Cypresswood Dr - 2019, UPIN 20104MF1BH01, Precinct 3.

Background and Discussion:

This traffic signal will be part of this project which consists of, extending Extend Birnam Wood Blvd. from J109-01-01 to Cypresswood, as a 4-lane concrete pavement section with underground storm. Upgrade from 2-lane concrete 1/2 boulevard section to 4-lane concrete curb and gutter boulevard with 32' raised median within a 100' ROW. The service outlet location statement is needed to establish electrical service from Center Point Energy to power the new traffic signal on Birnam Wood Blvd at Fern Hill Dr.

Expected Impact:

Approval of the service outlet location statement will allow CenterPoint Energy to establish electrical service to the permanent traffic signal, which is needed to enhance the operation of the intersection of Birnam Wood Blvd at Fern Hill Dr.

Alternative Options:

All traffic signals require a power source, which is typically obtained through CenterPoint Energy. Alternative options are to place a generator, which is not reliable, or not installed/remove the traffic from the intersection. Both options pose a public safety concern and will impact the operation and increase delay of the intersection.
