Background and Discussion:

On October 8th, during the discussion of the OCA report on Veterinary Public Health (VPH), Commissioner Garcia made a motion to discuss VPH’s progress towards formal agreements with local spay and neuter organizations, specifically ones that do not cost Harris County.  VPH has partnerships with four different vendors and personal service agreements with three veterinarians. Agreements with two no-cost partners are on the December 10th, 2024 agenda, with an upcoming ITB to secure additional vendors. The attached slide deck provides a breakdown of these partnership’s services as well as VPH’s goals for FY25.

Expected Impact:

To inform court members of current and future partnerships that will provide spay and neuter services to the community in efforts to address the stray animal population.
