Background and Discussion:
The Harris County Flood Control District is advancing a renewable energy initiative to reduce reliance on fossil fuels at its service centers. A Request for Proposal was issued to identify a qualified firm to provide and install three (3) solar systems. Following evaluation, Sunshine Renewable Solutions is recommended for award based on technical qualifications, relevant experience, and competitive pricing. (Flood Control Agreement No. 2025-34)
Expected Impact:
The project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 3,200 tons per year. Transitioning to solar energy will also lower long-term electricity costs at County facilities. This effort supports Harris County’s broader sustainability and climate goals. The installation will serve as a model for renewable energy adoption across other public-sector operations.
