Request for approval to execute an agreement with Entech Civil Engineers, Inc. in the amount of $783,751.75 for Professional Engineering Services to conduct a feasibility study in connection with Sidewalk - Energy Corridor and Multimodal Connectivity - 2023 - UPIN 24104MF38Q01, Precinct 4, MWBE Contracted Goal: 19.6%.
end
Background and Discussion:
This goal of this project is to conduct and complete a feasibility study for the design and construction phases of approximately 3.1 LM of sidewalk and safety improvements along Park Row drive, North Dairy Ashford and Dairy Ashford Road. The project includes completing a feasibility study for designing and construction of a 10 foot wide Shared Use Path (SUP) along the North, 6-foot-wide sidewalk along the South, ADA compliant traffic elements and spot improvements along the entire length of the roadway in the project limit .
This agreement will provide Professional services from the Engineer of Record for the completion of study phase.
Expected Impact:
This projects focuses on enhancing the mobility and connectivity options of non-motorized modes between the various land uses and developments in the Energy Corridor District project area by providing safe , efficient and ADA compliant public pedestrian paths and to facilitate safer public mobility. Currently there is an existing network of sidewalks along the roadways in the project area with sections missing between various locations which impacts the continuity , connectivity and convenience of sidewalk connectivity hampering its utility and use by pedestrians. In addition, sections of existing sidewalk do not conform to the latest design and safety standards. Project will evaluate the effectiveness of the existing sidewalk in view of the existing constraints and recommend feasibility of the most optimized alternative with cost , safety and continuity criteria for design and construction phase
Alternative Options:
If no action is taken, the safety and mobility benefits associated with the proposed improvements will not be achieved, thereby depriving residents and pedestrians of the enhancements these improvements are intended to provide.
