Background and Discussion:

The AI Auto reports feature is specifically described as an enhancement to the Utility Body Worn Camera system, delivered through a $0-cost Test & Evaluation trial for Harris County Sheriff’s Office. It is intended to assist with generation police reports using Body Worn Camera (BWC) audio/video from officer phones. The enhancement feature, tested and evaluated by a program pilot into the Utility Polaris ecosystem-a digital platform used for facility management-is designed to automate data collection and streamline workflow processes. By implementing these improvements, the feature is expected to enhance report generation, boost operational efficiency, increase deputy safety, strengthen evidentiary integrity, and reduce workloads inside inmate facilities.

Expected Impact:

For Officers & Deputies in Jail Facilities

•                     Faster, more accurate report writing

•                     Less administrative burden → more time for supervision

•                     Safety improvements through rapid documentation of critical incidents

•                     Standardized reports reduce liability and clarify Use of Force documentation

For Supervisors, Command Staff, IA, and Legal

•                     Cleaner, automated documentation aligned with video

•                     Reduced review time and fewer inconsistencies

•                     Enhanced transparency to DA/Defense

•                     Better analytics and case prep due to standardized formats

For HCSO as an organization

•                     Operational modernization with no upfront cost to pilot

•                     Compatibility with existing BWC contract and evidence workflows

•                     Improved discovery, oversight, and litigation posture

•                     Scalable across patrol and detention if the pilot succeeds
