Background and Discussion:
The project area is located in the Northwest area, bounded by Barwood Subdivision on the North, N Eldridge Pkwy on the East, Fallbrook Dr on the South, and Marrs Dr on the West. The subdivision is specifically bounded
on the West by HCFCD Unit E133-00-00, on the East by HCFCD Unit E132-00-00. The Tower Oaks Meadows Subdivision is primarily served by roadside ditch drainage systems. The scope of the project includes storm sewer improvements by re-grading roadside ditches and providing additional capacity underneath ditches to accommodate for increased conveyance, and full roadway reconstruction in the subdivision. HCFWSD 61 benefits from the proposed improvements and has agreed to a joint participation to fund 100% of the water
and sanitary relocation during construction.
Expected Impact:
This agreement will allow the firm to conduct field and laboratory testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and various other construction materials to ensure the material’s compliance with Harris County Engineering Department’s adopted standards and specifications as required by state law.
Alternative Options:
Construction materials testing is required by state law. Thus, alternatives include issuing a purchase order for similar services to a different vendor or cancelling this construction project.
