Background and Discussion:

Harris County contracted Southwest Signal Supply, Inc. effective November 2022 for Preventative and Reactive Maintenance, and Alteration of Traffic Control Devices and Related Items and Materials for the Harris County Office of the County Engineer.

Expected Impact:

Continual providence of preventative, reactive and alteration related services ensures efficient operation of traffic control devices.

Alternative Options:

Preventative, reactive and alteration related services mitigate de-gradation of the traffic control devices which can result in pre-mature failures.  The alternative would be to have staff technicians responding to service issues with insufficient resources leading to deferred repairs of indeterminate duration.  Such conditions would affect the efficient operations of traffic control devices with adverse impacts to the traveling public.
