Background and Discussion:
Ralston Acres is in northeast Harris County, Precinct 1. The project site is generally bounded by Greens Bayou (P100-00-00) to the west, Spicewood Ln to the north, CE King Parkway to the east and the Beaumont Freeway (Business US 90) to the south. The Ralston Acres subdivision currently includes a mix of single-family and mobile homes on lots ranging between one and two acres as well as commercial and industrial properties near John Ralston Rd. The local drainage system is composed of roadside ditches less than two feet deep and driveways culverts. The proposed improvements include the design of an enclosed storm sewer system with a shallow swale above along John Ralston Road. The project also includes two wet bottom detention ponds to mitigate adverse impacts not only for the Ralston Acres Drainage Improvements but also for a portion of the Houmont Park Drainage Improvements project proposed to the north and east. This amendment adds design scope related to the increased flows Ralston Acres will experience on the subdivision streets due to the closed system on Green River Drive in Houmont Park.
Expected Impact:
This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the Ralston Acres community. The fiscal impact for this project will come from the 1070 Funding for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future.
Alternative Options:
The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the project may not be constructed as scoped.

_ Economic Opportunity
_ Housing
_ Public Health
