The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is committed to further educating our personnel to better serve the citizens of Harris County.
Expected Impact:
Approval of this Professional Services contract will provide a Technical Consultant to the HCSO for a new Active shooter Facility. Design, programming and construction of an active attack training facility metal building approximately 80' x 125' with classroom & catwalk. Building to be climate-controlled with roll up bay doors. To include small classroom and storage room for securing weapons and ammunition. Include two additional buildings consisting of one live fire shoot house and one covered SIMS ONLY shoot house with catwalk.
Based on recent data, over 800 personnel would be trained annually at this facility.
Alternative Options:
The County could elect to reject the request. However, if not approved, the lack of Technical Consultant advising the HCSO the inhibit the ability to train in their own facility for active shooter event and be forces to utilize and pay for the use of other facilities.
