Background and Discussion:

This project is part of the call for projects applications in 2023. A promenade with a 35’ wide shared-used corridor in Westchase between Briarpark and Elmside is proposed. Phase one (1) of the project is to design and construct low interventions, large planters, and new parklets with furniture for future food trucks/other programing. Phase two (2) will include shade structures, multi-use patio spaces and water feature. The total project cost is $3,540,000.00. Harris County is funding $1,770,000.00 and is responsible for the design and construction of the project.

Expected Impact:

This project will improve the drainage, public safety, and mobility to a high percentage of multi-family residential area. Over 50% of the residential area are households below the 80% Area Median Income.

Alternative Options:

Court may elect to not move forward, and Harris County can explore additional options, however this will cause project delays.
