Request Summary (Agenda Caption):
title
Request for approval of an order authorizing and directing Harris County, a body corporate and politic of the State of Texas to abandon its interest in a 8,131 square foot tract of land as shown on that plat of Highland Farms Subdivision, stipulating that all roads therein are dedicated to the public, recorded under M688/385 of the map records of Harris County, Texas, from Precinct 2 Non-Project Related ROW Sales, Abandonments & Disclaimers project, tract Golden ROW Culdesac, UPIN 24102MF2ZM01, Precinct 2.
end
Background and Discussion:
This cul-de-sac ROW was conveyed to Harris County via plat in 2019 to serve as the southern terminus of Golden Drive, Baytown, TX. Current development plans for the overall site render the Golden Drive cul-de-sac unnecessary in its current location.
Expected Impact:
The abandonment will clear title to the underlying fee owner of this property to accommodate future development plans.
Alternative Options:
Harris County would retain a ROW for a roadway deemed unnecessary as currently constituted and which would additionally prevent optimum development of the overall site as is being sought by the underlying fee owner.
County Strategic Plan Goal: 2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
