Request Summary (Agenda Caption):
title
Request for approval of an Order authorizing and directing Harris County to disclaim its interest in an easement or road once known only locally and colloquially as “SPARTA ROAD”, as conveyed to Harris County pursuant to a Right of Way deed dated September 30, 1940, recorded on May 5, 1944, under volume 1315, page 519 of the deed records of Harris County, Texas from Precinct 1 Non-Project Related ROW Sales, Abandonments & Disclaimers, tract Sparta Road Easement Abandonment - Abandonment, UPIN 24101MF2ZN01, Precinct 1.
.end
Background and Discussion:
Pipe Distributors, Inc. is requesting a roadway easement for Sparta Rd. which juts into the Company property and where there is no actual roadway being utilized by Harris County to be abandoned or disclaimed. At one time many years ago, Mesa Dr was altered, or construction occurred due to growth/change of ownership/authority (county/city) and the entrance to Company property was moved northward to allow construction of the underpass at Liberty and Mesa southwest of Company property.
Expected Impact:
There is no known negative impact that the company can determine relating to an abandonment of this easement at the current time. It will however clean up the records of Sparta Rd. and give the owner full use of its own property.
Alternative Options:
Alternative routes will have greater impact on existing public infrastructure.
County Strategic Plan Goal: 2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
