Background and Discussion:

This project is located in northwest Harris County in the Cypress Creek watershed.  Norchester Subdivision consists of an existing underground storm sewer system that drains into the existing Anderson Ditch and K100-00-00 channel. The scope of the project consisted of re-evaluating the recommendations made during the planning study of this project.  Planned improvements consist of upsizing existing storm sewer pipe in the neighborhood, adding additional storm sewer pipe, and increasing the number of inlets to the system to reduce localized flooding in the neighborhood. A new detention pond will also be required for mitigation. This amendment adds study scope related to the detention basin location for the project.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the Norchester Subdivision. The fiscal impact for this project will come from the 1080 Funding for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future.

Alternative Options:

The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the project may not be constructed as scoped.
