Background and Discussion:
Traffic signals are installed to improve the operation of an intersection and better facilitate pedestrian activities. Due to the pipeline in the area, additional SUE Level A service is required to allow for accurate locations of the existing pipelines for appropriate design of the rebuild signal at the intersection.
Expected Impact:
The installation of the rebuild traffic signal should improve the operation of the intersection. Should the additional SUE Level A service not proceed, design may not be approved by impacted pipelines in the intersection.
Alternative Options:
Subsurface utility engineering will allow for accurate location of existing utilities that are impacting the subjected location. One alternative option is to proceed with proposed design with existing information from already provided survey. However, this is not recommended as current survey does not provide the required accurate location as required for pipeline review and approval.
