Background and Discussion:
The project consists of the construction of a 10 feet wide trail and single span, prefabricated pedestrian bridge spanning Carpenters Bayou. Limits of the project are from Flintcrest Drive to Aguirre Middle School.
At Carpenters Landing/Wallisville Road, Sta. 600+00, the Type E-Inlet is located 2 feet inside the proposed sidewalk. The inlet cannot be adjusted due to the existing drainage. Per engineer of record direction, the inlet top must be adjusted to match ramp landing and sidewalk grades, with a culvert installed to maintain drainage flow. This correction is required under TDLR specifications to eliminate safety hazards. This change will add an additional cost of $10,309.91 and an additional 3 days.
Expected Impact:
Increase the total cost for the contract and add additional days to the contract time.
Alternative Options:
No action will result in substandard construction.
