Background and Discussion:

Rebuilding the traffic signal at the intersection of Fairbanks North Houston Road at West Road is a project that aims to enhanced traffic movements at the existing intersection. The service outlet location statement is needed to establish electrical service from CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC to power the traffic signal.

Expected Impact:

Approval of the service outlet location statement will allow CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC to provide electrical service to the traffic signal, which is needed to enhance operations of the intersection of Fairbanks North Houston and West Road.

Alternative Options:

All traffic signals require a power source, which is typically obtained through CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC.  Alternative options are to place a generator, which is not reliable, or to not install traffic signals at the intersection. Both options will negatively impact operations and increase delay of the intersection.
