Background and Discussion:

The State Crisis Intervention Program, FY2025 provides funding for personnel, equipment, supplies, training, and technical assistance to provide essential crisis services for the prevention, intervention, and reduction of crime and violence. HCPH is applying for funding to support the creation of a wellness room at a new satellite office for the Community Health and Violence Prevention Services division in Northwest Harris County. Funds will also be used to contract trauma counselors who will provide specialty counseling to those who witness and/or experience violent crime.

Expected Impact:

The funds will help address the mental and emotional well-being of Community Health and Violence Prevention Services clients, community members, and staff. These services are intended to reduce the psychological and stress-related impact of community-based violence, which in turn will improve the physical and overall health of these individuals.
