Background and Discussion:

This project is a signature park located in the South-West Houston area, at the corner of Bissonnet and Hill croft Ave. The amendment will include a study and design of the Master Plan Park with new baseball and softball fields and other sports fields, improved vehicle and pedestrian access and pedestrian access and circulation, a pedestrian promenade that will serve as the park’s “front porch”, new all-abilities playgrounds and splash pads, and improved natural spaces and amenities that will be further enhanced through resilient and sustainable infrastructure design practices including green stormwater infrastructure.

Expected Impact:

In implementing the proposed drainage improvements, this project seeks to reduce structural flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to at least 100 residential structures within these two communities. This will reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact costs to the homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA.

Alternative Options:

The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the project may not be constructed.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
