Project Description:

The DAO would like to acquire a dedicated van to provide reliable, safe, and efficient transportation for employees, witnesses and victims appearing in court or county events. This van will provide reliable transportation, which will increase safety for employees and reduce delays caused by the wait times of existing shuttles from the parking lots to the CJC, facilitating smoother case management and expedited court proceedings. Additionally, providing transport options for victims and witnesses helps remove barriers to court participation, promoting equitable access to justice. This initiative enhances operational efficiency across the legal system, contributing to faster resolutions and improved outcomes for all parties involved.

Justification & Alternatives:

This van addresses current transportation challenges faced by employees, victims, and witnesses involved in court proceedings. Existing shuttle services from county-owned lots to the Criminal Justice Center are often delayed, leading to inefficiencies, safety concerns, and can lead to disruptions in court schedules. By acquiring a dedicated van, timely, safe, and reliable transportation tailored specifically to the needs of District Attorney’s Office staff and court participants can be provided.

Alternatives would involve continued delays for employees getting back to the parking lot, and potential bottlenecks for getting witnesses and victims to court.
