Background and Discussion:

In response to Commissioners Court's request, Human Resources & Talent (HRT) has developed recommendations to implement key findings from the November 2024 employee satisfaction survey, which revealed that while professional, administrative support, and managerial staff reported relatively high job satisfaction, sworn officers and employees with two to ten years of tenure expressed notable dissatisfaction. HRT proposes several initiatives aimed at enhancing communication, engagement, and development across Harris County. These include improving awareness of employee resources, introducing engagement training, streamlining internal communications, launching an engagement portal and countywide newsletter, expanding leadership training, maintaining flexible work options, and conducting focus groups to better address employee concerns-all designed to strengthen employee connections, promote well-being, and support continuous improvement.

Expected Impact:

HRT will work with the Office of County Administration and Court Offices to determine a suitable implementation strategy.
