title

Request for approval to renew an interlocal agreement with the Harris County Soil and Water Conservation District No. 442 to continue coordinating and supporting the mutual interests and activities of the parties, and for approval of payment in the amount of $50,000.00. Background and Discussion:

This renewal will allow the FCD to continue coordinating and supporting the mutual interests and activities of the parties hereto and the efficient use of their respective natural and other resources in carrying out a broad program, including support of the District’s Water Quality Compliance, Public Education and Environmental Research Programs, in accordance with Section V of the Interlocal Agreement approved by Commissioner’s Court on April 19, 2011. The ongoing multi-year study of Chinese Tallow management at the Greens Bayou Wetlands Mitigation Bank is concluding this year and additional research programs associated with the Flood Control District’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program are beginning.

Expected Impact:

The FCD has allocated $50,000.00 in the Operation and Maintenance Budget for FY 2022-2023 to continue the partnership outlined in the Interlocal Agreement and this payment will contribute to funding the ongoing research and collaboration.

Alternative Options:

The alternative is that we do not renew this agreement and terminate work with the Harris County Soil and Water Conservation District No. 442, including ongoing research programs.
