Background and Discussion:

The existing water system at Alexander Deussen Park experiences frequent breaks and leakage. The system is currently supplied by a well located on the adjacent City of Houston property. A comprehensive evaluation of the park’s existing utility systems recommended replacing the existing water mains and service lines. This project will replace and upsize the existing water main within the Deussen Park limits, including the supply line from the City of Houston water well to the terminus of the park.

Expected Impact:

The failing water system in Alexander Deussen Park can be replaced with a reliable system and minimize maintenance costs.

Alternative Options:

If the request is not approved, then the failing water system will not be replaced, and the Precinct will continue to incur high maintenance costs due to numerous water leaks of the aging water system.
