Background and Discussion:
Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) is requesting authorization to execute an Addendum with Amazon Web Services, Inc. for Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services through the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Contract No. DIR-CPO-5172.
The Addendum provides for an initial twelve (12) month term, with four (4) additional one-year renewal options at the County's discretion. For FY2027, covering October 2026 through September 2027, the estimated cost of AWS cloud services is $1,484,597.57. AWS will bill the County based on actual monthly usage, with the County's total financial obligation not to exceed $1,484,597.57.
The AWS cloud services will support HCTRA's technology and operational requirements through cloud-based computing, storage, database, networking, and related services available under DIR Contract No. DIR-CPO-5172. Approval of the Addendum will establish the contractual terms necessary for HCTRA to procure and utilize these services during the applicable term.
Expected Impact:
Approval of this Addendum will allow HCTRA to utilize Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services to support its technology and operational needs. The Addendum establishes a maximum authorized amount of $1,484,597.57, with actual costs based on HCTRA's monthly usage of AWS services.
