Background and Discussion:

The TIRZ was created on December 14, 1994 by City of Houston ordinance to promote new investment, general welfare, employment, and economic development in the zone using designated tax increments. The nine-member Board of Directors is actively engaged in the implementation of the Project Plan, the development of a financing plan, and the design and implementation of a redevelopment policy for the area. The current TIRZ includes approximately 771 acres of land including all annexations within its boundaries, and are all within the City. Since TIRZ 2 is largely within the boundaries of Precinct 1, the commissioner of that precinct may nominate someone for the position as provided in the adopted Boards and Commissions Uniform Board Policies and Procedures, Section 8, D. Appointment Process.

Expected Impact:

Appointment to an expired position which will enable continuity of operations and leadership on the board.
