Background and Discussion:

The current electrical wiring system that is built-in throughout the workstation setups, is outdated and needs to be replaced. The workstations have surpassed their useful lives (over 30+ years of use) and are at a point of failure and safety hazard. The current workstations are showing signs of serious wear and tear. The workstations are all interconnected, which causes a serious total failure problem. If one workstation’s wiring fails, then multiple workstations’ wiring will fail causing a domino effect of downed workstations. The purpose of this project is to reduce the hazards of the outdated workstation setup by removing the old workstations and installing new workstations. The old workstations were installed under the previous codes (of the 1990’s) and safety regulations of their time. The new workstations will be installed with updated safety features that will greatly reduce the chance of electrical failure. We will replace 100 cubicles on the 2nd floor of the Administration building located at 1001 Preston Street. Each cubicle will consist of a 6’x6’ area and will include updated electrical wiring and connections.
