Background and Discussion:

Flooding, extreme heat, increasingly intense storms, and other climate-induced risks continue to plague our region, along with environmental and human-caused threats and hazards. An emergency management plan is critical to streamline disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Expected Impact:

The emergency management plan will identify the capabilities for managing disaster scenarios, the ability to respond to and recover from those scenarios, and a framework for continued staff training, continuous improvement, and a project management strategy to maintain the Precinct’s emergency management capabilities. Additionally, there will be the development of initial training for Precinct staff on the completed plan, and a Precinct Preparedness Program Guide.

Alternative Options:

If it is not possible to obtain a consultant, County staff will have to develop the emergency management plan and provide the training.
