Background and Discussion:

This project is part of the call for projects applications in 2023. It is a storm & drainage improvement project, West side of the South Fork Brays Bayou (D132-00-00), between Alief Clodine Road and Winkleman Road, more specifically just south of the pedestrian bridge which connects Magnolia Park and the Mission Bend Greenbelt Trails to Petrosky Elementary School.  This project includes diverting water away from the trail and the adjacent ditch slope by directing flow to the back slope swales, demucking of overly silted and overgrown areas within the back slope swales, regrading of the back slope swale, installing a new drainage inlet, installing a new outfall culvert to the ditch, and re-grading the ditch slope.

Expected Impact:

This project will excavate and rebuild the ditch side slope. It will provide a fortified slope and eliminate the need for the County to eventually address any larger scale slope failures that would surface over time.

Alternative Options:

The alternative option for this proposal would be to determine other funding or to complete these items in-house. Denial of the request will delay community benefits.
