Background and Discussion:
The Administration Building 1st Floor Commissioner’s - Court Remodel/Relocation base contracted services were completed July 2023. Since then, the Contractor has completed multiple change orders for additional security, access, or communications. This request is for permission to release Retained compensation for completed original contract scope and change orders completed to date.
Expected Impact:
This court action would allow the Contractor to bill for due retained compensation for work performed and completed.
Alternative Options:
Should we not move forward with this action, retainage will continue to be withheld on contractors for work completed. This is currently affecting the MWDBE contractors on projects who have expressed financial difficulties floating the retainage cost significantly past their work completion dates.
