Request by the Office of the Purchasing Agent for approval of an award on the basis of best proposal meeting requirements and that the County Judge execute an agreement with Kraftsman, LLC to design, provide, remove, and install playground equipment at Archbishop Fiorenza Park for Precinct 4 for the period of October 15, 2026 - October 14, 2027, and for the County Clerk to execute any applicable bonds to be received (260053), MWBE Contracted Goal: 9.90%.

Background and Discussion:
Archbishop playground is an older playground with repairs needed that outweigh the costs of the current playground. The current playground is older with minimal play value limited to a specific age group. The current playground has no shade structures which lessen the hours played on the equipment but also the lifespan of the equipment. Precinct 4 has had to close this playground down due to the extensive list of repairs needed to get it to a safe state to play.
Expected Impact:
Installing this new playground at Archbishop Park will provide a play space with adequate play value, expanding to multiple age groups. The new playground will have shade structures, increasing the hours played by the community and the lifespan of the equipment itself. The new playground will provide sensory items to bring an element the previous playground did not have.
Alternative Options:
If this playground were not to be replaced, the community would continue to be underserved with a playground with less play value than is needed. The equipment would continue to need repairs with costs that could outweigh the value of the current playground.
