Background and Discussion:

The Holzwarth Road corridor is in northwest Harris County and the roadway is classified as a major thoroughfare with high volumes of traffic.  A significant number of accidents have been reported for portions of this corridor.  After the contract amendment was approved for additional services for traffic engineering services related to median openings design and evaluation, now we have the final Study Report needed to proceed with this project.

Expected Impact:

The completion of this study of the Holzwarth Road corridor will allow the Precinct to evaluate future needs for separate design and construction projects along this corridor between Cypresswood Drive to Spring Cypress Road to increase safety and improve traffic conditions.

Alternative Options:

The alternative is to not approve the study report which will prevent future design projects.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.

County Strategic Plan Objective: F: Ensure safety and security for all using the county’s transportation network in alignment with the County’s Vision Zero plan.
