Background and Discussion:

The purpose of the Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) was to evaluate recommended flood risk reduction projects from the Vince Bayou Watershed Planning Study and develop a recommended combination of projects that can be constructed within the available budget.  A community engagement meeting was held September 10, 2024. The Flood Control District plans to utilize the remaining funds in Bond ID F-99 to design and construct the recommended basins and channel improvements.

Expected Impact:

The acceptance of this PER will allow the Flood Control District to seek to reduce flood risks and strengthen resiliency in the Vince Bayou watershed. As the first phase of the ultimate project recommendation made in the watershed planning study this project will provide additional stormwater detention in the area.

Alternative Options:

The alternative to approving this item would be not approving this Preliminary Engineering Report, which would result in the Flood Control District not proceeding with the final design of this project.
