Background and Discussion:

Harris County has an existing signal on-call contract to install and modify traffic signal systems and related improvements, which will expire January 03, 2024. A rebid is recommended to replace the existing signal on-call contract.

Expected Impact:

Continual installation and modification of traffic signal systems and related improvements to improve the operations of the intersection.

Alternative Options:

Intersections are evaluated in accordance with the 2011 Texas Manual on Uniform Control Devices (TMUTCD), which takes into consideration traffic volume, crashes, pedestrian activity, and roadway network. The installation or re-building of a traffic signal at intersections that meet the required warrants will improve the operations of the intersection. One alternative option is to bid the traffic signal projects individually, which will add 3 to 9 months to the overall schedule.
