Background and Discussion:

This project will provide safe pedestrian pathways connecting multifamily housing near the Bering Ditch to schools and community amenities. The current pathway ends before reaching large multifamily units, creating a safety barrier for families accessing Wisdom High School, Pilgrim Academy, and Meridian Academy.

Expected Impact:

•Enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists by reducing incidents in the project area.

•Provide a continuous and accessible pathway for residents to schools, churches, hospitals, employers, and amenities.

•Improve quality of life and community mobility, particularly for low-income residents and zero-vehicle households.

•Promote equitable access to resources and green spaces.

Alternative Options:

The alternative would be to keep the pathway along Bering Ditch from Westheimer Rd. to Westpark Dr. in current condition.
